Say Cheese: 12 Photos That Should Never Have Been Posted Online – washingtonpost.com

You know the old cliche, a picture is worth a thousand words? Turns out that pictures have been deeply undervalued: A single photo can cost you your reputation, your job, even your freedom–if you post it online.

Teachers, principals, firefighters, mayors, university presidents, and everyday people have all discovered the dark side of putting the wrong photos and videos on social networking sites. Sometimes they paid the price in embarrassment. An unlucky handful lost their jobs or landed in jail.

The results aren’t pretty, but they are sometimes hilarious. Here’s our dirty dozen–12 pictures their owners probably wish they could take back.

200809230724.jpg1. Hey Kevin, Tinker Bell Wants Her Outfit Back

It’s bad enough to dress up like you’re about to slip a dollar under some toothless child’s pillow. But former intern Kevin Colvin made it much worse by asking his boss at Anglo Irish Bank if he could take time off for a “family emergency in New York,” then flitting off to a Halloween party dressed like a refugee from Peter Pan. Putting the faerie pix on his Facebook profile was the finishing touch. After his boss found the pictures, he responded by attaching the photo in question and blind-copied the entire office. Colvin lost his internship and what was left of his reputation when the e-mail messages went flying across the Internet; at least he got to keep the wand.

200809230726.jpg2. Quick, Call 911–My Pants Are on Fire

Now that an ex-beauty queen is running for the VP slot, life may be easier for hot mommas who also happen to be office holders. It will be too late to help Carmen Kontur-Gronquist, though. The former mayor of Arlington, Oregon, got in hot water with her constituents after a family member posted photos to her MySpace profile showing off her, umm, political assets in the town firehouse (where she worked as an executive secretary). Amazingly, the town of 500 voted to recall her from office shortly after the photos went public. Maybe they were afraid people would start setting fires, just to see what she was wearing when she showed up.

200809230729.jpg3. Muscle Bound or Muscle Brained?

What is it about firehouses that makes people want to take off their clothes? In this case, Boston fireman Alberto Arroyo got in trouble for stripping down to take part in a body-building competition last May. (He finished eighth in the 2008 Pro Natural American Championships, by the way.) There’s nothing wrong with fire fighters showing off their muscles, but Arroyo made the mistake of competing two weeks after he’d filed for permanent disability status due to back injuries. Apparently his injuries enabled him to lift barbells but prevented him from inspecting buildings for code violations. After his bosses saw video of Arroyo competing on YouTube, they decided to give him plenty of spare time to work on his pecs.

200809230741.jpg4. Vending Machine Leads Tennis Teen, 40-Love

British tennis phenoms Naomi Broady and David Rice are no longer feeling the love from the UK’s Lawn Tennis Association. The LTA nixed its sponsorship of the teens in October 2007 after discovering photos of Broady and Rice on social networking site Bebo showing them drunk, getting intimate with condom dispensers in public restrooms, and otherwise displaying “a lack of discipline.” According to the Yorkshire Evening Post,”Naomi’s Bebo profile showed her out on the town, with her legs wrapped round a toilet vending machine.” No doubt trying to coax it to return the correct change.

200809230745.jpg5. Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum

What do you do with a drunken pirate? Throw her in the brig–or, if you’re Millersville University, deny her a teaching degree. That’s what happened to Stacey Snyder, a then-27-year-old student teacher who posted a self portrait to her MySpace page under the caption “drunk pirate,” even though it was not clear from the photo exactly what liquid was in her plastic cup. The Pennsylvania-based university decided the picture was “unprofessional” enough to rescind Snyder’s degree, just days before it was to be awarded in May 2006. Snyder sued the university in federal court, claiming it violated her First Amendment rights (not to mention, of course, her Right to Paaaaar-tay). As of publication date of this story, that suit is still active.

6. Moronic at Any Speed

Quick, what’s more stupid–driving 140 mph or filming yourself while driving 140 mph? How about filming yourself driving 140 mph and then posting the evidence on YouTube? That was only the tip of the dunce-berg for 23-year-old Andrew Kellett of Leeds, England. He posted more than 80 videos of himself driving recklessly, stealing gasoline, using drugs, and engaging in sundry other illegal activities under the name “Mrchimp2007.” Last July, a city magistrate who’d had enough of this monkey business gave Kellett two years probation and ordered him to stop posting videos of his dirty deeds ( though some are still available online). “Kellett must be in the running to be Britain’s Dumbest Criminal,” said Leeds City Councilor Les Carter. “If more criminals were as obliging, the city would be even safer.”

200809230820.jpg7. Where There’s Smoke, There’s Ire

Sometimes posting a photo of someone else is enough to get you in trouble. In March 2005 Central High student Eliazar Velasquez snapped shots of principal Elaine Almagno having a smoke on school grounds and posted them to his Web site. He then distributed flyers throughout the Providence-based school, urging students to visit the site. Though it was Almagno who got caught breaking Rhode Island’s ban on smoking near schools, it was the sophomore who got suspended. But not for long; after the story hit the news wires, Velasquez’s suspension was lifted. Our advice to Almagno? Two words: Nicotine patch.

200809230827.jpg8. No Nudes Is Good Nudes

Here are two quick rules of thumb. If you’re going to teach art to high schoolers, try not to post nude photos of yourself online. And if you must teach art and pose in the nude, don’t do it in Texas. Tamara Hoover found this out the hard way in May 2006, when she was forced to leave her teaching position at Austin High School after students discovered semi-nude pix of the 31-year-old on Flickr. Perhaps it was the photos of a nude Hoover wearing a spiked dog collar that set school administrators into a tizzy, or perhaps it was simply because the photos were taken by Hoover’s gay lover. Because as we all know, Texas has no room for artists, lesbians, or naked people.

200809230830.jpg9. Nice, Err, Pom Poms

As Texas is to nude art teachers, Illinois is to scantily clad cheerleading coaches. In April 2007, 25-year-old Natosha Shaw was temporarily stripped of her pom poms when parents at Waukegan High discovered sexy photos on Shaw’s MySpace profile. Parents claimed the aspiring dancer/model was also “inexperienced, incompetent, and immature” as well as under dressed. But Shaw, who’s also an executive assistant to an Illinois state congressman, was ultimately given a second chance. Apparently it’s OK to train teenage girls to perform in front of crowds wearing skimpy outfits, so long as you don’t do it on MySpace. Shouldn’t the parents be more worried that she doesn’t know how to spell “Natasha”?

200809230835.jpg10. Then We Ordered Another Bottle of Tequila, and When I Woke Up One of My Kidneys Was Missing

It was a vacation she’d probably rather forget. When Janet Dudley-Eshbach, president of Salisbury University in Maryland, created an album of her family’s trip to Mexico on Facebook in October 2007, she didn’t expect a local TV station to broadcast the photos to the world, or to have a Wikipedia entry covering the mini-scandal. The problem wasn’t the photos so much as the captions, like the one for this picture: “I ended up having to beat off the Mexicans because they were constantly flirting with my daughter.” (We believe she meant with a stick.) Or the photo of a tapir, a piglike mammal, with an arrow pointing to its outsized manhood. The 53-year-old educator was forced to apologize for conduct unbecoming a university president–and to endure a painful lesson on how not to use Facebook’s privacy settings.

200809230838.jpg11. Yesterday, Spring Break; Tomorrow, Prison Break

What’s a Halloween costume cost? For college junior Joshua Lipton, it was two years of his life. In October 2006, the Bryant University student was charged with drunk driving after causing a three-car crash that left one Providence woman in critical condition. Two weeks later he showed up for a Halloween party dressed as “Jail Bird,” photos of which made it onto Facebook. That didn’t sit very well with the judge in the case, who called the picture “a defense attorney’s worst nightmare” and sentenced Lipton to two years in prison. The good news: The department of corrections didn’t have to issue Lipton a new jumpsuit–he already had his own.

200809230849.jpg12. I’m a PC, She’s a Mac, and You’re Unemployed

Michael Hanscom did not pose nude on Flickr, attack the locals with a stick on his trip to Mexico, or dress up like the Fairy Princess while calling in sick. His crime? In October 2003, the Microsoft temp posted photos of Macintosh G5s being unloaded on the Redmond campus to his blog with the title “Even Microsoft wants G5s.” And that was enough to get him canned from his job in Microsoft’s print shop for an alleged “security violation.” Apparently, the world’s largest developer of software for the Mac (besides Apple) didn’t want anyone to know that some of its employees use Macs. (Thanks for Michael Hanscom for use of the photo.)

Bondage for Beginners: What the "act" is All About

By: David Tottenham

bondage

BDSM is a pretty compact acronym which stands for bondage and discipline, domination and submission, sadism and masochism. BDSM in general involves a variety of sexual practices and relationships.

For this, however, let us try to focus on the “B” word; bondage. What exactly is it about getting handcuffed which turns some people on? If your sex life is lagging, is bondage really an effective way to add some spice into your love play? Read on to find out more…

When Bound is Not Necessarily Battered

First up, here’s a quick definition of bondage. From the perspective of BDSM, bondage involves tying up or restraining someone to induce sexual pleasure.

There are a few quick facts that you need to know about bondage if you haven’t tried it yet. No matter what your sexual orientation is, you might just be turned on by the sight of your partner with his or her hands cuffed to the bed posts. Perhaps it’s the novelty of the act of bondage, but it can also be the thought of mastering your control over your partner which proves to be a huge turn on.

Another thing that you need to know about bondage is that it is not necessarily the violent nature of the act which provides a strong erotic appeal for most people. Whether you’re on the giving or receiving end of bondage discipline, this will allow you to get lost in a world where your sexual fantasies will come into play.

Bondage Sex Toys for Beginners

Now that you have an idea about the appeal that bondage has to some people, what are the beginner sex toys that you can use to introduce some BDSM into your love play with your partner?

The most basic bondage sex toys that you can try out as a beginner include handcuffs, erection rings and nipple clamps. For the mid-level to advanced level of BDSM, you can graduate to the more sophisticated bondage sex toys which include a full bedroom bondage or fetish kit, spanking paddles, whips, sex furniture, love swings, hammocks and electro stimulation toys.

If you want to up the ante in your sex life, bondage is definitely the way to go. Not only will you be able to fulfill your deepest, darkest sexual fantasies – but you and your partner will be able to connect on a more intimate level in the bedroom that is bound to add that extra spice to your sex life.

BDSM: An Immeasurable Range of Sexual, Sensual and Intimate Activities

To some people, the term BDSM brings to mind images of people tied up in chains, in some dark secret dungeon and being whipped senseless in some type of twisted if not macabre pleasure. You know, an indulgence for those bordering of mental illness. bent_forward_strappadoThis of course could be seen as true in some instances but this is not what BDSM is all about. BDSM cannot be defined by one activity alone, in fact it would be accurate to say that BDSM cannot be defined by any number of activities, it’s a lifestyle choice, which is entirely unique.

The term ‘BDSM’ encompasses an immeasurable range of sexual, sensual and intimate activities. The most common can include power or role-play, a range of sensory games from the extreme infliction of intense pain to the gentle tease of a feather and much more. Many have even participated in an act that could sit under the caveat of BDSM without even knowing it and this style of sexuality is ever on the increase whether you are aware of it or not.

So, what exactly is BDSM?

The term BDSM itself is actually made up from abbreviations of other terms. B & D represents ‘bondage and dominance’ or ‘bondage and discipline’. D & S represents ‘dominance and submission’ and S & M represents ‘sadism and masochism’. With all these terms sitting under the BDSM belt it is easier to see exactly why BDSM can be extremely hard to define and is simply more straightforward to view as a way of life.

As well as being hard to define there are also no set practices within BDSM. For many, it is seen as a way to add an element of spice and enjoyment to their sex lives. Others can view BDSM as a way to gain fulfillment or a temporary release from everyday life, a kind of escape if you will. Still others will view it as a way to deepen the bond between partners. This list of varying views could continue but it is far simpler to point out that there are possibly as many views as there are people involved in the subject. Although the list of views varies dramatically the people behind them all share something in common and that something is known as SSC.

Like BDSM, SSC is also an acronym. It stands for Safe, Sane and Consensual. Safe means that precautions are taken to prevent harm or injury to those involved. Sane means that mental and emotional safety is also cared for and consensual almost speaks for itself; all parties involved agreeing to participate without coercion.

BDSM involves, but is not limited to, any one or a combination of the following practices. The practice is as varied as the people involved in it. The main thing is eroticism.

1. Bondage: refers to the practice of physically restraining a person, by means of devices such as handcuffs, rope, chains etc.

2. Discipline: refers to the process of punishing or being punished.

3. Sadism: refers to deriving pleasure of personal gratification from causing pain, suffering or cruelty.

4. Masochism: refers to deriving pleasure from mental, emotional or physical pain.

While the major sub-groupings of BDSM are within its own definition, it encompasses a very wide variety of practices, some being obvious and others not so obvious. They include;

1. Servitude or slavery

2. Spanking/flogging/canning/whipping

3. Suspension

4. Humiliation

5. Sadism/masochism

6. Sensory deprivation (Example, blindfolding)

7. Body piercing and tattooing

8. Movement restriction

9. Sensation-play (Example, tickling)

10. Medical procedures

What sort of people practice BDSM?

Contrary to the images imprinted in our minds by the media, BDSM is not necessarily hardcore sadism or pornography. People of all walks of life, from various backgrounds and nationalities, all sexual orientations, perform BDSM activities. Participants are, in most cases, normal well-adjusted, and respectable people in their communities. In fact as much as 50% of the population have a varying degree of interest in the subject and that’s with them being knowledgeable enough to know what it encompasses. If you include in those figures couples that may have restrained each other to a bed or the simple use of a blindfold you could expect that percentage to soar. Historically this behavior was listed as a psychological problem in a similar vain to masturbation and homosexuality. Today, however, as are homosexuality and masturbation becoming increasingly accepted in society, so is BDSM.

Is BDSM abuse?

People who practice it say they do so for fun. The emphasis is on SSC (Safe, Sane and Consensual). It is not about dominance or forcing another person to do things they don’t want to do. It is about both parties doing what they do want to do. It involves two happy parties.

BDSM can also be subtle and highly erotic, as in the case of tickling or stimulating sensitive body parts with a feather, paintbrush or similar object. There may or may not be pain.

The majorities involved in BDSM share a heightened sense of responsibility and respect for their partners. BDSM has absolutely nothing to do with violence against a helpless victim. It is this kind of common misconception that responsible BDSM participants wish to dispel. Restraining a partner and beating them is not BDSM but simply brutality. The heightened sense of responsibility and respect often results in a positive side effect of superior levels of communication, which, in the BDSM world, is essential, and something that the majority of mainstream couples would be advised to adapt.

Responsible participants practice the use of good communication up front, the use of a ‘safe word’ which will stop the action immediately and a period of communication after any event to discuss what could be better for the next time.

Why BDSM?

There are as many reasons as there are people. The most obvious is good old fun. Some people do it to fulfill their fantasies. For others it is the role-playing. For some it is simply the feeling of dominance or submission. The list is endless.

One thing you can be sure of is that BDSM will always attract a certain curiosity. People will come from all genders and orientations establishing common ground between heterosexuals, homosexuals and any other orientation that you can think of. Before you dismiss BDSM and vouch that you would never participate in such an act or lifestyle, can you be so sure that you haven’t, to a certain degree, done so already?

Glossary of BDSM A – Z:

200809211614.jpg

Call It Kinky, Swinky or perverse, but I think we all have our “little things” that help make our sex lives different.

But what about swingers – is it enough that we Swing? I have had a few (ok, many) emails that ask about Fetishes and in particular about BDSM and Swinging.

The main things that are asked are about clubs – many offer an area for use in BDSM Play but can You really play out a full scene in them? I would say No – I know one couple that played in one of these areas and got told to stop as it was “too much” for the bystanders to take! They are now taking their play away from swingers clubs and to places where they know they will be able to “pink it up” without being told they are “abnormal”.

Many people both swingers and in the Vanilla world just think of BDSM as either being in pain or being the pain supplier but it is (apparently Lol) so much more than this.

To play out a scene you have to be in a safe zone and trust those you are not only Playing with but also those that may be Watching.

It may be that the Dom and the sub live their lives Fully in this way or just use it to “scene” every now and again. Some people do not even use BDSM as a sexual gratification but a simple way of life.

BDSM is an erotic experience and not just simply pain, it can be something as simple as spanking your partner or blindfolding them all the way to being dressed in full rubber suits with nothing but a straw to beathe through. The only thing that is important is that all parties are comfortable and are all on the same path emotionally. Communication as always, is they key to this particular lock!

There are many books, DVD’s and “how to” guides out there but the best way to learn is to take it slowly, find out what makes you tick, write a list of things that you think you may want to try and remember to laugh if it all goes wrong.

Being the helpful little soul I am I have a great glossary of BDSM A – Z:

Bondage lovers normal, maybe even happier

By Tamara McLean

AN unusual sex survey has found that Australians who enjoy bondage and discipline are not damaged or dangerous, and might even be happier than those who practise “normal” sex.

The research showed 2 per cent of adult Australians regularly partake in sadomasochism and dominance and submission-type sexual role play.

And contrary to commonly-held stereotypes, they are not doing so in reaction to sexual abuse or because they are “sexually deficient” in some way, according the study of 20,000 Australians by public health researchers at the University of New South Wales.

“Our findings support the idea that bondage and discipline and sadomasochism (BDSM) is simply a sexual interest or subculture attractive to a minority,” Associate Professor Juliet Richters and her colleagues wrote in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

The findings showed that it was more common among gay, lesbian and bisexual people, and that participants were more likely to have been more sexually adventurous in other ways.

“However, they were no more likely to have been coerced into sexual activity and were not significantly more likely to be unhappy or anxious,” said Prof Richters, author of the book Doing It Down Under.

In fact, men who take part may be happier, with results showing they score significantly lower on a scale of psychological distress than other men.

The researchers did not study why this was, but suspect it might simply be that they’re more in harmony with themselves because they’re into something unusual and are comfortable with that.

Prof Richters says the findings go against professional views of BDSM.

“People with these sexual interests have long been seen by medicine and the law as, at best, damaged and in need of therapy and, at worst, dangerous and in need of legal regulation,” she said.

There was also an assumption, mostly among the general public, that people involved in BDSM were sexually deficient in some way, “and need particularly strong stimuli such as being beaten or tied up to become aroused”.

She said she hoped the results would help change these stereotypes.

M.A.L. 2008

Feature Story at Metro Weekly magazine – News articles from Washington DC newspaper:
Upwards of 2,000 people enjoyed the camaraderie at last weekend’s Mid-Atlantic Leather event

It’s impossible to be blasé the first time you walk around the host hotel or the grand, main performance space for the Centaur MC’s Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend. Men parading around only in jockstraps, others in obedience gear, from dog wear to gas masks, most in some get-up made of leather, from harnesses to butt-exposing chaps — all celebrating the sense of community that’s developed, however improbably it may seem at first, around a leather lifestyle.

But stay awhile, or go again, and the message written on one popular T-shirt for sale at this year’s Leather Exhibit Hall proved to be more than just cute: ”It’s only kinky the first time.”

In fact, despite a few visible displays, there isn’t much kinky about M.A.L., which the Centaur Motorcycle Club has produced for the past 24 years. The event, the second largest of its kind, attracts upwards of 2,000 people from all over the world. Eighty-five leather and fetish clubs were represented at this year’s event, including the DC Bear Club, the Great North American Wolf Society and the Indiana Falcons.

200801280727
This year Mayor Adrian Fenty even issued a mayoral proclamation recognizing the weekend, the first in a decade. (Jim Graham has officially recognized the event in his capacity as a City Council member in previous years.)

”To me, it’s like a family reunion,” says Mike Kramer, a former Centaur who goes to the event every year. ”I get to see friends who I don’t see all year. I can’t stress enough how much it’s like a family reunion.”

Chris Grasso, who won this year’s Mr. M.A.L. Leather Contest, agrees. ”Leather is more than just about sex,” he says. ”To me, it is like family, a lifestyle.”
200801280727-1
And it’s a lifestyle open to everyone, far less intimidating than a novice might fear. ”I was shocked at how nice people were,” says M.A.L. co-chair Larry Barat of his first M.A.L. many years ago. ”And I’ve heard that story countless times.” Now a sixth-year Centaur, Barat says the weekend is about ”creating an environment where people can come and be themselves.”

You can even attend Saturday night’s Leather Cocktails event at the Shriners’ Almas Temple downtown in standard gay attire — T-shirt and jeans — and not feel unwelcome or out-of-place, even though it is essentially a ”leather forM.A.L.” event. Most of the 1,000 or so cocktailers dressed the part, though not Chris Dyer. At Leather Cocktails, Fenty’s liaison to the gay community read the mayor’s proclamation dressed in a suit. He did, however, sport a discreet leather tie.

”This is my first leather weekend. Sorry I wasn’t prepared,” Dyer said to the crowd after being introduced as ”the only man here wearing underwear” by emcee Frank Nowicki, who then told the GLBT leader, ”There’s a jockstrap waiting for you backstage.”

200801280728
And certainly there were men wearing jockstraps at the event. More than just a decade ago, the lifestyle now incorporates more costuming and practices than just leather and BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism). Part of this broadening definition is attributed to a newer generation, and to outreach to a newer generation. This year’s theme, ”Get In Gear,” acknowledged a trend toward uniforms and sports and fetish gear. Images of athletes were scattered around Almas Temple just as there was a smattering of football players and other jocks scrimmaging at Leather Cocktails.

And then there was Santa Bear. Centaur member Dougie Gowin serves as the official Pentagon City Santa Claus each year, and this year he’ll be attending both a national and an international Santa conference. He doesn’t have to dress up much for that role: He has a long, white beard. ”It’s actually registered on the National Beard Registry,” said Gowin. Yes, Virginia, there is such a registry.

200801280729
On the day of the Mr. M.A.L. Contest, Sunday, Jan. 20, Gowin paraded around as Santa Wrestler, wearing a bright red singlet with shoes to match. In that gear he proceeded to lead the volunteers as they dismantled the stage.

Drag artist Varla Jean Merman served as this year’s headliner, entertaining the crowd as the judges deliberated about who should serve as Mr. M.A.L. 2008 among four contestants. A regular on the leather circuit, Merman had the crowd lapping up her raunchy stage banter and saucy numbers. She performed a song about ”dripping with pearls” — sample lyric: ”Baby I won’t rest until you put one on my chest” — and aired a video spoof of Faith Hill’s hit, ”Breathe,” in which Merman plays a woman abused by her chain-smoking man’s polluted air.

After Merman’s amusing antics, Gary Samuels spoke eloquently in his ”step-aside speech” about his work over the past year as Mr. M.A.L. 2007.

200801280730
”This year I learned the beauty of brotherhood,” he said. Having focused on attracting and mentoring the leather community’s next generation, Samuels choked up a bit as he related the story of one young man who told Samuels his work inspired him to compete in the Mr. M.A.L. contest next year.

”Being a part of the leather community is nothing short of a great adventure for me,” said this year’s Mr. M.A.L. first runner-up Karl Hornberger. ”I seek out ways to continue fostering the strong sense of camaraderie that the leather community has instilled in me.” As first runner-up, Hornberger was awarded a leather-ball gag as one of his many gifts from M.A.L. sponsors.

200801280730-1
The camaraderie Hornberger attributes to the leather community is certainly fostered by the three full days of adventure that M.A.L. offers to veterans and novices alike. From the wild (but also mild) things to see all weekend at the Leather Exhibit Hall and the hosting Washington Plaza Hotel, to the weekend’s full slate of entertainment, including the Recon fetish party at Apex and the Leather Reaction Dance at the 9:30 Club, to the fraternity-like atmosphere of the official events at Almas Temple, M.A.L. 2008 offered at least a little something for everyone.

Cocktail in hand at Saturday night’s leather social, Vern Stewart, a former Centaur and veteran leather-circuit traveler, summed up the experience with a broad grin: ”I’m just watching the world go by.”

Bondage, Toys, and the Myths in Between – Associated Content

bdsm-kit-bondage-10.jpg“BSDM”: a tricky acronym that seems to be very confusing to many. Yet when broken down, it is really quite simple. Each letter of this acronym corresponds to each other. B & D = Bondage and Discipline. D & S = Dominance and Submission. S & M= Sadomasochism.

This lingo may still be confusing to you. But it’s good to know that “BSDM” can refer to any of these ideas, and unlike many who believe this, BDSM is not a negative or hurtful thing when it comes to sex.

Many may hear the word “bondage” and run scared, thinking of it as too wild or sick or “out there” to even dare try.

What many do not know is that even the simplest acts of erotica used in bed or wherever, are in fact considered BDSM. If you’ve ever used a blindfold, whipped cream, ice cubes or feathers to entice your partner, you have engaged in BDSM.

Sexual tension is something that occurs within both members of the opposite sex. BDSM is an excellent way to release this tension and discover sides of you and your partner that would otherwise not be seen in a normal session under the sheets.

In most cases, one person chooses to be the dominant and one choose to be the submissive. Self-explanatory, but in essence, the dominant partner is the one in charge; the submissive chooses to be “submitted.” And contradictory to popular belief, it isn’t just the dominant partner who gets what they want; the submissive gets what they want, if not more, sexually. To keep things interesting, it is not uncommon for partners to switch these roles.

Overall, BDSM is a way to explore yourself and your partner sexually. It’s a harmonious agreement between two people to react upon each other’s deepest needs, fantasies and desires.

Hopefully this will remove any stereotype or negative connation that “bondage” is all hardcore sex or infliction of pain for pleasure. Yes, the pleasure part is correct. But when a couple decides to engage in this activity, they are not physically harming each other for pleasure…it is more the idea of being submitted by someone else that is the turn-on.

Just like BDSM, it’s all too common a misconception that toys used for bondage may, in fact, hurt your partner or significant other. Rather, this is a silly thought when remembering what these type of sex objects are made for…They are “toys” after all. They are not meant to physically damage, but physically please.

Popular bondage toys like handcuffs, whips, paddles and feathers have been around for years and have been used by couples, swingers, lovers, and nymphos, for ages. There is something about being tied up naked, held hostage in bed or teased to the point of orgasm that entices people to use these objects. They are simply a turn-on.

Luckily, these days we have the freedom of choice. Handcuffs do not have to be the standard plastic black; they can be any color you like while the material can be whatever feels pleasing to the skin, from sexy leather to sensual Japanese silk. For those who really enjoy being in charge, they even have cuffs for the neck, ankles and legs of your partner as well.

Whips, paddles and nipple clamps are also popular S&M toys, all of which are sold in variation. Like many bondage products, whips, as well as nipple clamps, may sound dangerous. But again, the whip itself cannot cause any serious physical pain, but rather is used is a form of foreplay or sexual engagement before actual intercourse.

As far as nipple plants go, do not run scared (especially men.) In most cases the clamp simply vibrates, if anything at all, and this should not be painful but stimulating to the body.

There are more objects that fall into the bondage category whether they really belong there or not. An example of this is the ever-popular “sex swing,” which is accurately more a toy than a bondage object. The swing, however, is excellent for those who like trying out new sexual positions, not to mention those who like producing many, many big O’s for you and your partner.

If you’re new to bondage, start out simple. Even the seemingly harmless combination of a blindfold and feather can work wonders for your partner.

These toys were made for sexual pleasure. Enhance your erotic desires and live out your sexual fantasies.

Satisfaction guaranteed.

A petite, elegant German woman in flowing wrap-around Thai pants rises to her feet from the edge of the circle where the students are gathered. The warm sun rays, rare during this unusually cold Berlin summer, plays on her fine features. The students are poised, focused and freshly alert after a brief meditation. She spills the contents of a small bag onto the floor. Dozens of old fashioned wooden clothes pegs scatter about. The class on Pain Processing is about to begin. Read More→
