| Biography: This female solo artist-writer/singer-songwriter has performed her whole life, through stage school, and the Brits, London Academy and then ACM, eventually specialising in Pop music. From small pubs to a club audience of 10,000 and singing live and solo at the Royal Albert hall, she has done her apprenticeship, both in the relative safety of college, and out in the real world. penny went to the Brit school to study musical theatre, but it soon became obvious that her focus was music, as in her end of course report from the Director” As a performer Penny is focussed and engaging. She has genuine quality in performance. This was seen dramatically in her performance of her own composition in the school’s music showcase. She gave a powerful performance which gained much praise. She is an accomplished singer and composer. ” (aged 18) ACM are Europe’s top school for rock and pop musicians, and whilst there she studied vocal composition and arrangement, basic production, and performance. there were masterclasses from visiting legends, and Jiant productions (10 million records worldwide) helped develop her songwriting. At the same time The Pop concert at the Royal Albert Hall was in a league of it’s own. To be judged the winner by an audience of 6000 on the night, a cross section of the public, all ages and from all corners of the Uk, based on one live performance of a totally original song, never heard before that night, says he must have something special to offer. The song For the next two years she ” performed” in studios all across the UK and Europe, with the most demandinh critics – producers. | Press Release:Album Review by Rebekah Pearce (Kerrang, Q, Rock n Roll Report) Penny Foster A graduate from the famous Brit School, Penny Foster has earned her stripes in a variety of situations. From intimate pub venues to packed clubs it demonstrates her ability to adapt to various genres and interact with a kaleidoscope of people. Back up vocals for Shania Twain on the Desperate Housewives soundtrack and working wth a fistful of renowned songwriters and producers; Foster has even penned the title track to MTV show ” 30 days till I’m Famous” ” Numb” opend the album with sultry vocals and a smouldering beat channelling the eighties glory days, adding a pinch of ” Music” era Madonna. Inspired by the underworld of London, the dazzling glamour gone wrong and the price you pay for being a slave to the wage. The well-travelled Foster demonstrates a sense of distance on this album stetching from serene Norway to the hustle and bustle of frenzied New York, and back again to the hedonistic and ruthless Camden Town. ” Disconnected” oozes the ever-popular power pop infused with a tingling chorus whilst ” hypnotised” uses an elctrifying guitar riff as a backbone to a charged disco back beat that races along breathlessly. like Goldfrapp before her, these songs blend retro synth with modernised lyrics designed for a pumping club floor “Reckless” is wonderfully grimy and desperate sounding. However, foster’s light and pretty vocals keep this track bounding along, lifting it from darkness and casting a tainted glitter to the proceedings. ” perfect World” is the age old Romeo and Juliet story brougt up to speed using ambition as the self-inflicted barrier between lovers rather than family. Album closer ” Circles” is the catchiest track on this record and would make for a strong future single release. Edgy lyrics combine with teasing vocals to make this a contender for the charts.Interestingly this song was written over a backing track that producer justun Scharvona wrote back in 197. It certainly doesn’t date. Like Annie who released the infectious ” chewing Gum” back in 2004, which sent the public and the critics alike into a synth frenzy, Foster will not disappoint. Unfortunately Annie faded off the radar too soon. perhaps the timing was wrong, but maybe Penny Foster has timed things perfectly with this release and will have dance floors seething to her sultry vintage disco with a modern twist. |

A man and a woman were in jail Saturday on charges that their romantic adventure flooded several rooms at an island motel.
According to a police report, officers were called to the Comfort Inn in the 100 block of Seawall Boulevard just before 11 p.m. Friday. Officers said the hotel’s sprinkler system had broken, flooding at least eight rooms and causing an estimated $15,000 in damage.
Police said a search of the room with the broken pipe turned up drug paraphernalia and a number of sex toys.
“At first, they both denied knowing anything about the damage, but they couldn’t get around the fact that their room was filled with sex toys,” said Bret Griffin, an assistant district attorney.
Griffin said the couple eventually admitted tying a rope around the man’s neck and attaching it to the sprinkler system.
“They thought the pipe would support the man’s weight,” Griffin said. “That proved to be wrong.”
The 45-year-old Arcadia man was held on $3,500 bond Saturday afternoon on charges of criminal mischief and possession of marijuana. His companion, a 35-year-old Santa Fe woman, was held on $2,000 bond on a charge of criminal mischief.

| Description: Hotel de Ville: n. a place – cinematic and darkly seductive. Otherworldly voice and orchestral strings mix with downtempo beats and atmospheric reflection. | ||||
| Biography: With the release of the collaborative compilation album These Wings Without Feathers featuring Brewer (Ronan Quays) and Lisa Gerrard in 1996, Brewer’s music was introduced to an international audience. The Ebbing Wings of Wisdom, Brewer’s soon to be re-released debut album, became an underground success story. Following extensive radio play on the BBC, the album led to Brewer scoring numerous films in Europe. For the creation of Hotel de Ville, Brewer retreated to his London studio for over a year, singularly developing the music. | ||||
| Press Release: SPILL MAGAZINE: ?A cinematic element which would not be out of place in a dramatic indie film. Adventurous and stirring.? april 2006 AURALGASMS.COM: ?an artistic journey ending just a few steps shy of a religious experience.? april 2006 hotel de ville
The Present: Inside Hotel de Ville, the rooms tell stories and the walls have ears. Cinematic and darkly seductive, Hotel de Ville is the musical vehicle of composer and vocalist Rhett Brewer. Taking inspiration from 60’s French pop, operatic intrigue and film noir, Brewer has singularly constructed a shimmering emotional drama and 21st century vision. Bittersweet melodies blend with orchestral urgency and trance inducing beats. Brewer’s intoxicating music always veers between overwhelming elation and desperate heartbreak. Imbued with a state of childlike wonder, Hotel de Ville is an exhilarating yet defiantly undefinable experience that quickens the pulse and inflames the senses. Despair, lonliness and bygone dreams are ever present in the mix, as are tenderness and hope. Retreating to the creative shell of his London studio for a year, Brewer has forged a hymn to life and love, which is equally avant-garde and traditional, acknowledging no boundaries. Hotel de Ville is quite a musical departure from previous work, in which Brewer mixes classical instrumentation and down-tempo percussion while re-mixing his own otherworldly voice. The result is an emotionally stirring and softly intense soundtrack for living. The Past: Orchestra to Arab ensemble, Brewer’s debut album The Ebbing Wings of Wisdom scaled the extremes. With the release of the collaborative album These Wings Without Feathers in 1996, which also includes music by Lisa Gerrard, Brewer began to experiment with using his own voice as an instrument. In Brewer’s case, the music came before the film. Since a strong cinematic quality has always permeated Brewer’s music, his early recordings led to scoring feature films. His music has become increasingly in demand for films, with seven feature film scores under his belt in the past few years. From the atmospheric British thriller Every Picture about a secret love affair that ends in murder, to the controversial and apocalyptic American film The Lot, the emotional spectrum of his work is wide and the resonance deep. For a preview of The Lot: http://www.thelotmovie.com/tonepoem/womenQTFull.html As an 8-year old child, Brewer was hand picked as a soloist in a local New York Catholic school. The voice, in addition to piano, quickly became the preferred means of communication for him even from this early stage. A spiritual element has always infused Brewer’s work, perhaps as a result of his initial musical development in a church. Early reference points for him included the Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance and David Bowie, though this was always tempered by a rampant addiction to classical music. Composers such as Arvo Part, Bach and Morricone have long since shared the shelf with groups such as Portishead, Tricky and the Gotan Project. With Hotel de Ville, the many faces of this spectrum have fused into another sound and aesthetic. Although Brewer has studied music extensively in a formal setting, he is largely self-taught. With Hotel de Ville, this has reached a new level, since Brewer has also recorded, arranged and mixed all of the music including his own vocals. To hear a preview: http://www.myspace.com/rhettbrewer Hotel de Ville is a culmination of years of development. Brewer says he named the album and project as a metaphor for life, since in both scenarios you check in and out. Brimming with otherworldly contemplation, grounding beats and soaring voice the album is a logical next chapter; ancient and modern, classical and pop, dream-like etherea and gut-wrenching sorrow rolled into one. Enjoy your stay! Hotel de Ville will be released throughout the UK and on Amazon.com, Borders.com, CD Baby and itunes amongst other retailers from May 1, 2006. |

| Location: Covington, La., United States | ||||
| Description: modern guitar driven rock with hints of emo and punk influences | ||||
| Biography: I started to play guitar at the age of six after hearing “Eruption” from Van Halen. I fiddled around and learned on my own until my freshman year of high school when I decided to join the Mandeville High jazz band. Not only did I learn a lot of scales and chords but I met a lot of musicians, including percussionist Ben Adams. In no time, we decided to start our first real rock band called “The Drones” , we had two shows including the first Bogafalia fest that has sense become the biggest festival in Covington, La.. I left The Drones shortly after and started the alternative Grunge band “Vertigo” in 1994 with life long friend and bass player Jensen Penny. Vertigo played shows all over including the 1995 Floodfest show in Slidell. Songs such as “On Your Own” and “Fences”, which appear on “The Lost Highway”, came from this time. After two years of alternating members due to band members going off to college, I decided to disband Vertigo and start over. Then there’s “Longplay”, a story all it’s own. Me and former “Zauf Dingbats” singer Chris Benning started this band in 1998 but didn’t get the first line up together until summer of 1999 with bassist Kenny Philips and former “The Drones” and “Last piece of Earth” drummer Ben Adams. This line up stayed together for about a year playing such shows as the grand opening of the Mandeville Trail Head in 2000 and Headlining a concert at Audubon Zoo. After the departure of Chris and Kenny, I was once again singing lead and decided, along with Ben, to keep the band going and record Longplay’s first album “Wyoming” with former “Ugly Kid Joe” guitarist turned engineer Dave Fortman. But first, we needed a bass player. After alternating members, we finally decided to record as a three piece with former “Gemini Project” bassist David Landry. The album was recorded in 2001 but never released. Shortly after, David left and the band alternated bass players for the rest of it’s time. But , Longplay became a name that was recognized for great original music, and still is. After a while, I decided to start over again. With Ben and David back in the picture. We decided to start another band in 2002. For two years the name of the band alternated either because we didn’t like it or someone else had it. Names include ” No Imagination, Fiver, and For Karma”. At the end of 2004, I got tired of dealing with all the major label dealings and decided to start my own label Wishpool records and release the “Wyoming” album. The name was changed to “The Lost Highway” for obvious reasons and the name of the band was changed to Todd Lemoine for other reasons. Me, David, and Ben are getting ready to go out on tour this summer under the name “For Karma”. The second album is already written and do out this fall. As for the rest, we will just have to wait and see what happens. |
