JANE?S ADDICITON RE-MIXER RELEASES NEW CD

May 7, 2006 (San Pablo, CA) — Orpheos Dejournette, one of the most versatile live-electronic music producers for his genre from San Pablo, CA, has released his new album ?PoP Goes tHe underworld?. The album contains 19 tracks of down tempo trip-hop beats with melodic rock, reggae, and haunting hypnotic soul. Orpheos fuses all of his very own instrument playing, vocals, and personally developed production style. His approach stems from the intricate and tedious production of over 50 different underground electronica vinyl releases.

Starting out in the gothic era and then becoming one half of The Mephisto Odyssey has helped Orpheos to sculpt him into the trip hop gothic menace he is today. His music has lended itself well to both the commercial and underground music and film scenes and most recenty found itself into the feature film “Hostel” produced by Quentin Tarantino.

Influences by the likes of Depeche Mode, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack and Nine Inch Nails, Orpheos sees himself as an artist who has studied the works of his influences in the way a scientist studies a new species. ?I’ve always wanted to know how they produce their music and why their fans go so crazy for them,? he explains. ?Personally, when I write my songs, I visualize a video, movie or play in which my music sets the mood for the stage. In my minds eye I can see the audience’s reaction and I calculate my sonic tension and release based on how I see people’s emotional response. This is where I sonically tease and seduce my listeners.

In the early 90’s Orpheos with his writing partner Mikeal Johnston, formed The Mephisto Odyssey and were signed to Warner Brothers Records. The deal resulted in releasing the criticlly acclaimed “The Deep Red Connection” album. The Mephisto Odyssey were among the most innovative and influential electronic groups of their generation. ?I draw people sonically into my songs,? Orpheos says. ?I use methods of studio tricks and production that I just don’t hear about many other people doing, although it sounds quite impossible these days. Also a great number of my production tricks happed by mistake while attemping to do something completely different.?

Orpheos has officially remixed bands and artists such as Jane’s Addiction, Static-X and Soul Coughing to name a few. His music visionary soundscapes have also been used for numerous MTV shows, a song called “Crash” was featured this year in the MTV show “I want a Famous Face”
