Biography: Vaya interlocks searing guitars, strong melodies and powerful drums with a passionate understanding of what rock is all about. Formed in the spring of 2004, the Atlanta based band is a cohesive mix of talented songwriters that lives, eats and breaths their music.

Finding musical inspiration as disparate as GlassJaw, Coheed & Cambria Saves the Day, Johnny Marr, and The Dillinger Escape Plan, Vaya has found its own niche in the world and shares that with their growing legion of fans.

“Often, what distinguishes the bands that make it from the bands that don’t is a mysterious quality that’s hard to pin down, hard to put your finger on” – “whatever that special something is, these guys definitely have it.” – CDBaby

In the fall of 2004 the band released their independent demo “Be One Bee”, and immediately began to gather in fans from all across the country through the introduction of the music on the internet. In support of the release, Vaya has toured the Southeast and mid-Atlantic extensively over the last year. The touring has allowed the band to reach out to the many loyal fans that embrace their song craft and high energy stage shows.

The Proper Authorities Give The World A “Public Service Announcement”

CINCINNATI, Ohio, December 12, 2005 The Cincinnati modern rock outfit known as the Proper Authorities will be releasing its first full-length recording in January 2006 through the imprint Talon First Records. The LP CD, entitled “Public Service Announcement,” will feature 13 tracks and over 50 minutes worth of high-impact material for listeners and lovers of heavy guitar, electro textures, lush vocal harmonies, and booty-shaking grooves.

The Proper Authorities is the brainchild of singer / songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Keith Adams. Best known for his drum and synth work for Acid Itch / Jamm recording artists Sound Mind, Adams confidently takes on all vocal and instrumental duties in this impressive debut effort. Meshing old-fashioned musicianship with technological wizardry, this relatively lo-fi production sounds anything but.

“My goal with this project was to create something in the rock realm that could actually have fun with the not-so-fun concept that we are, all of us, running out of time,” says Adams. “One of the hugest motivating forces in life is the primal struggle of getting things accomplished while we have breath in us. I could easily have made it solely about the darkness and morbidity of that idea, but it was more challenging to sonically aim for the emotional dynamics that we all experience as we run against that clock.”

Indeed, the tracks range in tone from adventurously playful (“The Ninth Life Jitters,” “Whodunnit,” “Penalty”) to straight-ahead serious (“Losing The Now,” “The Depth of Things,” “The Way Back”) to bleakly introspective (“Today,” “Make A Choice For Me”). Although there is an emphasis on hook and groove, Adams also gets a chance to show off some of the vocal chops that he only hinted at in earlier musical projects.

Wondering what the future has in store for him and this DIY-extreme musical undertaking (he also handles production and the disc artwork), his enthusiasm for the project is balanced with a healthy dose of “come-what-may” and pride for the completed CD. “I got it done, which is saying A LOT,” laughs Adams. “It’s cool that my lyrics were motivational to me, if to no one else.”

Jeremy Kushnier

January 1, 2006 in Music by Admin

80205766 Bb0F6Edbe6 OJeremy Kushnier, currently starring as Roger in the world tour of Rent, has released his second album.

A self-titled CD, “Jeremy’s second album is a more grounded look at life through clearer glasses. This EP conceived and produced with his friend and musical director Jonathan Dinklage is an acoustic blend of rock and pop that gleans it’s inspiration from an era of analog tape and tube warmth. A time when one good take could make an album. This album was recorded with a group of musicians with the feel and talent to pull this inspiration together in a truly creative and original way. There is an honesty in this recording that keeps it grounded without taking itself too seriously. Jeremy’s writing continues to fuse his love of singer songwriters with his self proclaimed pop addiction. From the moody Allison to the B52’s – esque Lullaby this follow up to his first release In Time is sure to leave you wanting more.”
